- Object Number:
Not all of Robert’s songs about women were complimentary, as seen in the song Tibby I hae seen the day. In it, Burns immortalises his one-time love Tibby Stein (Isabella Steven) who later rejected him because of his lack of wealth.
'Yestreen I met you on the Moor
Ye spak’ na but gaed by like stoor
Ye geck me because I’m poor
But fien’ a hair care I.'
This pair of spectacles belonged to Tibby, the woman who spurned the young Bard.
