MS: Letter from Robert Burns to James Armour, dated Dumfries,10 July 1796
- Robert Burns, Author
- Object Number:
Written three days after his letter to Alexander Cunningham, Robert sent this letter to his father-in-law James Armour while he received medical treatment at Brow Well in 1796.
In it, he begs James to send Jean’s mother to her daughter’s bedside in Dumfries as she is heavily pregnant with Robert’s last child. He worries that she will go into labour while he is still receiving treatment at Brow Well.
Although he believes that his water treatments are helping him, Burns admits, 'I have some secret fears that this business will be dangerous if not fatal.'
He would be dead 11 days later.
