We’re near the A77 trunk road, just 40 minutes’ drive from Glasgow.
There are two spacious, free car parks, one at Burns Cottage and one at the Museum building.
The Museum has a free electric fast charging point for two vehicles.
Getting here by bus, train or air
It’s quite easy to get here by public transport. There’s a regular train service from Glasgow to Ayr. From Ayr, there’s a local bus service to Alloway Village.
You can also catch the 361 from Ayr to Burns Cottage, or the 8 from Ayr to the Museum. The No. 8 service terminates at The Loaning, a short walk away. The X77 runs from Buchanan Street in Glasgow to Ayr and at weekends to the Museum itself.
Glasgow Prestwick International Airport is 8 miles from the museum, with daily flights to destinations across the UK and Europe.
Both the National Cycle Route 7 and the Ayrshire Coastal Path Network are connected to Alloway by short local routes.
